Overview of Rockwell Collins Venue
This list of features is taken from the Rockwell Collins Venue King Air 350i press release:
- Digital, High Definition Video - A real-time, uncompressed high-definition distribution system that enables passengers to enjoy crystal-clear HD video from popular sources such as Blu-ray Discs and Xbox 360 game consoles.
- Media Center Device - A new high definition entertainment device that integrates a wide variety of entertainment features into a small, cost-effective unit. Features include an integrated Blu-ray Disc player (also compatible with standard definition DVDs); CD and MP3 Player; Audio and Video Jukebox; optional integrated 3-D Airshow Moving Map with XM Weather overlay, games, and front port USB input for loading personal media, such as music, video and photos.
- High Definition Monitors - New 10.6” in-seat and 15.3” bulkhead LCD monitors, providing true wide-screen, high definition display.
- Digital Audio-on-Demand (AOD) - Available at each seat, a new audio-on-demand feature that allows passengers to bring on board their personal music libraries for easy listening and sharing throughout the cabin. The AOD capability requires no additional line replaceable units by leveraging the distributed architecture of the Venue system.

We saw the King Air 350i with Venue Cabin Management System at EBACE 2010.

Five pages of mock-ups and marketing copy about this impressive Cabin Management System.
A few key features that we noticed:
- First, Emteq’s partnership with Custom Control Concepts (CCC) is interesting. CCC is the leader for VVIP and Head-of-State IFE. Large aircraft such as Boeing 747 and B767 use CCC switches and AVOD servers for in-flight video. But CCC has never targeted the medium- and large- business aircraft. Now Emteq is helping them reach that market.
- “The advanced C-Stream Network allows for easy, immediate cabin system survey and upgrades to the aircraft from multiple access points: on-board the aircraft; at the installation engineer’s desk; or a remote connection from an OEM Service Center.”
…. This makes it easy for a technician to troubleshoot problems in the field.

“The Flight Display Systems Select CMS offers more control, easier configuration, and higher quality video at a better price than any other CMS on the market today,” said David Gray, President of Flight Display Systems. “The result is a quantum increase in quality for the passengers.”
Ultra CMS from Rosen Aviation
This cabin management system was purchased from Avion Partners and is now being sold exclusively by Rosen Aviation.

Diagram from Rosen Aviation
“The Ultra-CMS digitally distributes up to 40 audio entertainment channels, 6 Video Channels and the cabin management controls throughout the aircraft via a high-speed data network. The fully customizable touchscreens can be configured to control any cabin management element on the network. With only four hardware
part numbers in the system, the infinite variety of customization is accomplished via software, not dozens of different hardware units scattered throughout the aircraft.” — more information
Select CMS from Flight Display Systems
New from Flight Display Systems, to be introduced at NBAA 2009 in Orlando Florida.
“The Select CMS is the industry’s first CMS specifically designed to interface with our High-Definition displays and source equipment, including the new Flight Display Systems Blu-ray player. The Select CMS is versatile enough to control the cabins of six seat turboprop aircraft up to wide body airliners.” — more information

This looks like an interesting product we will keep our eyes on.
